VanEck Asset Management’s CEO, Mr. Jan van Eck, engaged in a discussion with Permanent Vice Minister Nguyễn Minh Vũ at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the conversation, Mr. van Eck highlighted the development of VanEck’s investment trends in ETFs. VanEck is a pioneer in establishing crypto investment funds such as BTC and ETH and actively shares its governance experience and modern technology with regional partners. He stated, “Looking ahead, we anticipate high-level visits between the US and Vietnam in the coming months. I hope that by then, we will witness concrete progress in this field.”

Mr. Jan van Eck also expressed his enthusiasm for Vietnam’s embrace of blockchain and digital assets. He mentioned that the positive shifts in the US government’s perspective on digital currencies have opened collaboration opportunities between the two countries’ regulatory bodies, allowing Vietnam to establish an appropriate legal framework.

Permanent Vice Minister Nguyễn Minh Vũ appreciated VanEck’s involvement in developing Vietnam’s domestic digital asset market. He emphasized the frequent bilateral engagements between Vietnam and the US, both at the government and business levels. The Vice Minister ensured that he would forward Mr. van Eck’s suggestions and advice to relevant agencies for inclusion in the Vietnam-US cooperation mechanisms’ agenda.

On the same day, Mr. Jan van Eck had a working session with the State Securities Commission. Representing the Commission, Mr. Bùi Hoàng Hải, Vice Chairman, shared that the Commission and the Ministry of Finance had advised and submitted a draft resolution on digital asset trading to the government. Mr. van Eck expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity to cooperate with domestic partner SSI to develop the digital asset market. He also believed that a cautious yet proactive approach is a reasonable strategy for Vietnam to operate in the digital asset market. Additionally, he proposed the idea of establishing a Bitcoin investment fund or organization in collaboration with SSI.

The discussions throughout the day affirmed VanEck’s role in transferring international digital asset management experience to Vietnam and contributing to shaping a transparent legal framework for the domestic digital asset market. The collaboration between VanEck and regulatory agencies, along with the long-term partnership with SSI, heralds a new era for Vietnam’s digital finance industry.
