On March 10, at the 43rd meeting, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee devoted time to considering the report on civil affairs of the National Assembly in February 2025.

Complaints and denunciations became complex after the Lunar New Year

Reporting at the meeting, Chairman of the Committee for Petitions and Supervision Duong Thanh Binh said that in February 2025, the situation of citizens’ complaints, denunciations, proposals, and reflections decreased compared to the previous month but the situation remained very complex, especially after the Tet holiday.

“Recently, the situation of petitions related to corporate bonds and financial investments has continued to be complex,” said Duong Thanh Binh, adding that complex cases related to investments in the financial and real estate sectors through the issuance of corporate bonds need to be verified, clarified, and resolved by competent authorities in the near future.

According to the Chairman of the Committee for Petitions and Supervision of the National Assembly, the functional units have coordinated closely to ensure stability, conduct propaganda, guide and urge citizens to comply with the provisions of the law on the right to complain and denounce and security and order.

Mr. Binh cited a report synthesized from localities showing that in February, cases related to land, especially compensation, support, and resettlement when the State recovers land; fields of resources, environment, labor – jobs continue to be complex.

Among them, 11 cases of complaints and denunciations with signs of complexity in security and order need to be considered and resolved by competent authorities in the near future.

The Committee for Petitions and Supervision proposed that the National Assembly Standing Committee request the Government and the Prime Minister direct the People’s Committees of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, and the provinces of Dak Lak, Hoa Binh, Binh Phuoc, Thanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Binh Duong, and Bac Lieu to organize the reception, dialogue with citizens, issue documents to resolve (if still competent) or organize an inspection if there is a basis for resolving them thoroughly.

The Committee also proposed directing the People’s Committee of Hanoi and the provinces of Hung Yen, Lao Cai, and Ninh Binh to urgently inspect and thoroughly resolve four cases of complaints and denunciations involving a large number of people who regularly gather to petition in Hanoi.

Mr. Duong Thanh Binh said that at the National Assembly’s reception site for citizens, the Committee for Petitions and Supervision had received 48 people with complaints, denunciations, proposals, and reflections on 48 cases, and there was one group of many people.

Through this, a case has been studied and transferred to the competent authority for settlement; 11 cases were guided in writing; and 36 cases were directly explained, guided, and persuaded to comply with the decisions and judgments that have taken effect.

Agencies of the National Assembly and the Delegation of National Assembly deputies received and handled 979 petitions and denunciations from citizens. Through a study, 58 cases were eligible for processing, and the agencies transferred five cases to the competent authorities for settlement.

The remaining 53 cases mainly involved matters that were being considered and resolved by the competent authorities, complex cases that needed to be further studied and collected additional documents to propose that the competent authorities consider and resolve them in accordance with regulations.

Chairman of the Committee for Petitions and Supervision Duong Thanh Binh informed that voters and people believed and expected the drastic directions of the Central Party Committee, directly by General Secretary To Lam, the National Assembly, and the Government on implementing the policy of renewing and rearranging the organizational apparatus of the political system to operate efficiently, effectively, and effectively.

Voters and people also appreciated the results of the 9th Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly. These laws and resolutions have promptly institutionalized the Party’s guidelines and policies, serving the requirements of rearranging and streamlining the apparatus. At the same time, they contribute to perfecting the institutions, unleashing all resources, and creating a premise for our country to step into a new era, an era of vigorous development and prosperity of the nation.
