The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of contractors’ unwavering dedication to construction, working tirelessly through all weather conditions, and adopting an efficient routine of eating quickly and sleeping early. He urged them to operate with three shifts and four teams, working relentlessly through holidays and the Lunar New Year festival to expedite the project.

The 500 kV Laos Cai – Vinh Yen power line, a national key project, spans a total length of 229.5 km across four provinces: Laos Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc. With a total investment of over VND 7,410 billion, the project is financed by an 80% loan from Vietcombank and the remaining 20% from the Vietnam Electricity (EVN)’s counterpart funds.

Upon completion, the project will be capable of transmitting approximately 3,000 MW of electricity from hydroelectric plants in the Northwest region and increase power import capacity. It will also enhance connectivity within the power system, improve safe operation, and reduce power losses.

Highlighting the significance of energy for economic growth, the Head of the Government pointed out that a one percent increase in GDP requires approximately a 1.5 percent growth in electricity. He instructed relevant ministries and sectors to thoroughly cut down on bureaucratic red tape and promote decentralization to accelerate project progress.

Local authorities were also instructed to pay attention to the livelihoods of affected residents, allocate sufficient resettlement land, and promptly relocate households to hand over construction sites. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment was assigned to support the retrieval of forest trees at foundation and construction sites, to be completed by March.

EVN affirmed its completion of project preparation, capital arrangement, design approval, and contract signing with contractors. Construction has commenced in Yen Bai and Phu Tho provinces. The Corporation pledged close coordination with local authorities to ensure timely and quality project delivery.

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour was entrusted with the task of launching vibrant labor emulation movements to foster a passionate working atmosphere on the construction site. The media was also called upon to effectively communicate, portray exemplary individuals and deeds, and rally public support for the project.

The Prime Minister assured the Government’s and ministries’ unwavering support and collaboration with the implementing units, emphasizing a spirit of service and avoiding bureaucratic obstacles that hinder project progress.
