Also, regarding engines, in February 2024, at the Singapore Airshow 2024, Vietjet signed an agreement with Pratt & Whitney to choose GTF engines for 19 Airbus A321neo aircraft. At the same time, Pratt & Whitney will provide engine maintenance services to Vietjet through EngineWise.

Accelerating Delivery for Commercial Aircraft Contracts
Recently, the White House announced a new countervailing duty policy, including a 46% tax on goods from Vietnam.
Regarding this issue, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh instructed the negotiating delegation to request the US to consider postponing the implementation of the new tax policy for at least 45 days to allow time for both sides to exchange, negotiate, and prepare for the transition. He also directed the delegation to continue negotiating with the US to promote balanced and sustainable trade that benefits both parties, consumers, and does not affect Vietnam’s international commitments. The goal is to work towards new bilateral trade commitments, as suggested by General Secretary To Lam in his phone call with President Donald Trump on April 4.
On the issue of taxes, the measures will follow the orientation of the high-level agreement between General Secretary To Lam and President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister also mentioned that Vietnam will purchase more goods from the US, such as products in which the US has strengths and Vietnam has demands, including security and defense-related items. Additionally, he emphasized accelerating delivery for commercial aircraft contracts.
“Vietnam will enhance dialogue and negotiation, avoiding confrontation, tension, and complication,” said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
