Bánh Mì Xin Chào, a Vietnamese bakery brand, has been making waves in Japan, as evident from their recent success at the Vietfest Next Culture Day 2025. The team sold an impressive 4,000 bánh mì sandwiches in just two days, exceeding expectations despite the long queues. This enthusiasm for Vietnamese cuisine is remarkable.
March also witnessed the opening of two new Bánh Mì Xin Chào outlets in Korakuen (Tokyo Dome) and Mizonokuchi (Kanagawa). With these additions, the brand now boasts 24 stores across major cities in Japan, showcasing their rapid expansion.
Bánh Mì Xin Chào’s collaboration with Japanese retail giants, including Ito-Yokado supermarkets, AEON Mall shopping centers, Don Quijote convenience stores, and Marui department stores, has been instrumental in their success. This strategic partnership has helped bring Vietnamese cuisine closer to local consumers.
To keep up with the growing demand, Bánh Mì Xin Chào inaugurated its Central Kitchen in Kawaguchi, Japan, early in April. This central production hub, dubbed the “heart” of the brand, ensures standardized quality and improved supply capabilities for their expanding network.
Currently, Bánh Mì Xin Chào offers a diverse range of 10 bánh mì options, including sandwiches with grilled pork, chicken salad, beef stew, and shrimp butter. Their menu also features popular Vietnamese dishes like pho bo, mi quang, bun dishes, goi, nem ran, and a variety of beverages such as coffee, tea, smoothies, juices, and yogurt.

Bánh Mì Xin Chào is accelerating the opening of new stores across Japan.
Founded in 2016 by two Vietnamese students, Bùi Thanh Duy and Bùi Thanh Tâm, Bánh Mì Xin Chào has come a long way. With a registered capital of 5 million Yen (approximately 880 million VND), the company is now valued at a much higher amount.
In 2023, Bánh Mì Xin Chào participated in Shark Tank Vietnam Season 6 and secured an investment from Shark Nguyễn Hòa Bình. Their ambitious plan includes expanding to 50 stores in the next two years, including a flagship store and a food truck, to bring Vietnamese flavors to the Japanese market.
The deal with Shark Nguyễn Hòa Bình was swiftly executed, with due diligence and investment negotiations completed within two months of the Shark Tank appearance. This efficiency showcases the brand’s commitment to their vision.
Bánh Mì Xin Chào shared on their official fanpage, “We are proud to announce that, a year after the show, we are fulfilling our commitments. The journey ahead is challenging, but each bánh mì sandwich we deliver is a testament to our efforts. Bánh Mì Xin Chào will continue to spread the love for Vietnamese cuisine in Japan through our quality, attention to detail, and pride as a Vietnamese brand.”
In April, Bánh Mì Xin Chào held its first shareholders’ meeting, attended by investors NextTech, DCOM, and Senkyuu, marking another significant milestone for the company.
