A 2024 advertisement clip featuring Ngo Quyen The, also known as The Long Se Dieu, recently went viral again on social media, sparking controversy. The owner of the clip, Quyen The, is the owner of a famous restaurant specializing in “long,” with two branches in Hanoi and one in Ho Chi Minh City.
In his advertisement, Quyen The claimed that the “long” weighed 5.8 kg and was taken from a pig weighing over 100 kg. To demonstrate the length of the “long,” he asked his staff to line up on a street, and with his stride of about 1.3 meters, he took over 30 steps to cover a distance of 40 meters.

However, in a recent news report by the Hanoi Television Station, during an unexpected inspection of the “Long Chat Quan” restaurant, The Long Se Dieu admitted that his previous advertisement was exaggerated. He revealed that he had actually taken 27 steps, but due to a miscalculation, he believed his stride was longer, about 1.2-1.3 meters, leading to the claim of a 30-meter-long “long,” which he further exaggerated to 40 meters.
Moreover, Quyen The now acknowledges that his actual stride length is only 80-90 centimeters, making the “long” closer to 25-27 meters in length. He also mentioned that the weight of the “long” varies and is not always available at his restaurant. Quyen The stated that he always informs his customers about this and never guarantees the availability of this signature dish.

Prior to this incident, there were heated debates on social media regarding the term “long se dieu” or “long xe dieu” and various information surrounding this delicacy. These discussions even sparked intense arguments among chefs and restaurant owners about this much-loved specialty. Many argued that it is a rare delicacy, not always available, which contributes to its high price.
Amid these debates, The Long Se Dieu gained significant attention as he frequently shared videos related to this dish on his social media channels. He has also been dubbed the “King of Long Se Dieu” by some for his years of experience in the industry and his consistent provision of quality and authentic products.
