EVN Announces Electricity Price Increase: Understanding the Impact
On May 9th, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) held a press conference to discuss electricity supply and management. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, Head of EVN’s Business Division, announced Decision 599, issued on May 7th, regarding adjustments to electricity retail prices.
Effective May 10th, 2025, the average electricity selling price will be 2,204.0655 VND/kWh (excluding value-added tax), representing a 4.8% increase compared to the current average price.

Impact of the electricity price adjustment from May 10th on residential customers
According to the General Statistics Office’s assessment, this price adjustment is expected to increase the consumer price index (CPI) by approximately 0.09% for the year 2025.
For households consuming less than 50 kWh of electricity (accounting for 10.55% of residential customers), the monthly electricity bill will increase by approximately 4,550 VND.
For the group of customers using between 51 kWh and 100 kWh (13.98% of residential customers), the monthly bill will increase by approximately 9,250 VND.
For the largest group of customers, those consuming between 101 kWh and 200 kWh (32.79% of residential customers), the monthly bill will go up by around 20,150 VND.
Households using between 201 kWh and 300 kWh (19.33% of customers) will experience an increase of approximately 33,950 VND in their monthly bills.
For customers consuming between 301 kWh and 400 kWh (9.89% of customers), the monthly bill will rise by about 49,250 VND.
Lastly, for customers using over 400 kWh of electricity (13.45% of customers), the monthly bill will increase by approximately 65,050 VND.
