The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has developed multiple strategies, including the Proposal to Promote Exports to the US. This proposal emphasizes key elements such as supply chain transparency and raw material regions, digital technology for origin tracing and quality control, brand building based on compliance and sustainability, and promoting green transformation in agriculture to meet stringent environmental standards of major markets like the US, EU, and Japan.

The conference focused on discussions and evaluations of the production and import of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products from the US. It identified challenges faced by businesses in trade and proposed solutions to facilitate trade between the two countries.

After hearing reports and industry insights, Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Hong Dien, affirmed that the US is a significant market for Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry, and aquatic product exports and has great potential for importing products like cereals, meat, dairy, and timber.

Minister Nguyen highlighted that importing agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products from the US has short-term and long-term benefits. It not only meets the consumption demands of both countries and contributes to trade balance but also lays the foundation for Vietnam and the US to collaborate in high-tech, circular, and sustainable agriculture.

To increase bilateral trade in these sectors, Mr. Nguyen suggested that the governments and relevant ministries of both countries should promptly remove trade barriers and introduce strong and feasible incentive policies. These policies could include tax breaks, capital incentives, and logistics support to motivate businesses and drive development.

He also urged businesses and industry associations to proactively connect with US partners to explore more import opportunities from this market.

Through the import and export activities of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products between the two countries, we should seek cooperation with US partners in building a green, clean, high-value, and sustainable Vietnamese agriculture sector. This collaboration should focus on both production and consumption processing.

Minister Nguyen called upon industry associations and businesses to unite and foster stable and sustainable trade relations between Vietnam and the US. He assured that the government and relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, are committed to accompanying businesses in these endeavors.

As a first step, they will work diligently to remove technical barriers and simplify administrative procedures to facilitate increased trade with the US market for agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products.
