Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (ticker: VFS) has just announced a change in the CEO position. Accordingly, the company has relieved Mr. Tran Anh Thang of his duties as CEO and legal representative effective May 8th.

His replacement is Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, who will also take on the role of Head of Corporate Governance.

Ms. Hang holds a Master’s degree in Economics. She has been with the company since January 2020, starting as the Hanoi Branch Director and later being promoted to Deputy CEO in March 2023. She is also the authorized information disclosure representative.

It is understood that Ms. Hang is the sister-in-law of Mr. Tran Anh Thang.

Mr. Tran Anh Thang

Mr. Tran Anh Thang, born in 1984, previously held a Master’s degree in Finance and Banking from La Trobe University, Australia. He joined the VFS Board of Members in February 2017 and was soon after appointed as Chairman of the Board in March of the same year. In May 2018, he took on the additional role of CEO. In April 2021, he became the Permanent Vice Chairman of the Board and continued to hold the position of CEO.

The 2025 Annual General Meeting of VFS shareholders relieved Mr. Tran Anh Thang of his duties as a member of the Board of Directors upon his resignation for personal reasons.

Mr. Thang was well-known for his role in leading the Amber Holdings ecosystem, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Members of Amber Capital Holdings until April 2024.

He also served as an Independent Member of the Board of Directors at Vietnam Export Import Bank (Eximbank, ticker: EIB) from February 14, 2023, until the end of the 2020-2025 term.

Immediately after leaving VFS, Mr. Tran Anh Thang was appointed as Deputy CEO of Eximbank, effective May 8th.
