On the afternoon of May 8, local time, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, arrived in Moscow, beginning their official visit to the Russian Federation to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, from May 8-11, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

General Secretary To Lam and his delegation received a warm welcome at the airport from Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam G.S. Bezdetko and his wife, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi and his wife, and a large number of officers, staff from the Embassy, and the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation.

The official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, was solemnly held at Vnukovo 2 Airport. General Secretary To Lam and his wife descended from the plane and greeted the Russian and Vietnamese officials who came to welcome them.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi and his wife presented flowers to the General Secretary and his wife, Ngo Phuong Ly. Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko accompanied the General Secretary along the red carpet to the honorary position.

Immediately after the official welcome at the airport, General Secretary To Lam proceeded to the Prime Minister’s office and held a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. He also attended a solemn reception hosted by President Vladimir Putin for the leaders of countries participating in the 80th anniversary celebration of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The official visit to the Russian Federation and attendance at the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War by General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, demonstrate Vietnam’s respect and honor for the immense contributions and sacrifices made by the former Soviet Union and present-day Russian Federation in the great victory against fascism and in safeguarding peace worldwide.

On this occasion, Vietnam wishes to further strengthen political trust between the two countries and determine orientations to elevate the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Russian Federation to a new height.

During this visit, General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam will have important meetings with Russian leaders, creating new impulses in bilateral cooperation in various fields, including both traditional areas of cooperation and new potential fields, generating significant driving forces to realize the oriented development goals in the Vietnam-Russia bilateral relationship. This will benefit the people of both countries and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
