On May 10th, according to the Office of the People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa Province, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa has directed and agreed on the necessity of arranging a portion of the athletes from the High-Performance Sports Team belonging to the Training and Sports Competition Center of Thanh Hoa Province to utilize the facilities at the Ham Rong Conference Center.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa assigned the Department of Finance, in coordination with the Departments of Construction, Culture, Sports and Tourism; People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa City; Training and Sports Competition Center of Thanh Hoa Province, and related units to guide and urge units to implement the next steps in ensuring compliance with legal regulations. A report on the implementation results must be submitted to the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee before May 19th.

The Ham Rong Conference Center is currently abandoned
Previously, Tien Phong Newspaper had reported that the Ham Rong Conference Center was constructed in December 2012 in Ham Rong Ward, Thanh Hoa City. The project was invested in to serve major cultural events of the city and province.
Initially, the total investment for the project was over VND 110 billion, with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and a 10% government counterpart. After several adjustments, the investment increased to over VND 160 billion. The project was put into use in November 2014.
In 2015, the administrative center of the City Party Committee and People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa City was relocated, and the Ham Rong Conference Center was temporarily used as their workplace.
In 2019, when the new headquarters of the City Party Committee and People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa City in Dong Hai Ward was completed and put into use, the Ham Rong Conference Center ceased operations and has remained inactive since then.
In April 2025, the Steering Committee for Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity Prevention of the province assigned the Provincial Inspectorate to inspect and review projects and works that are prone to wastefulness and loss, including the Ham Rong Conference Center project.
