Vietnam’s National Exhibition Center: A Grand Vision Unveiled

On May 5th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned a special task: each ministry, sector, locality, and major corporation should prepare at least two projects ready for groundbreaking or inauguration to celebrate the 80th National Day anniversary. In parallel, a large-scale exhibition will be held at the National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh, Hanoi – showcasing the country’s most outstanding socio-economic achievements.

The National Exhibition Center project, with Vingroup holding an 80% stake as the main investor, is located in Dong Hoi and Xuan Canh communes, Dong Anh district, Hanoi, replacing the old Exhibition Center in Giang Vo. With a total area of 90 hectares, it ranks among the largest exhibition centers worldwide.

The National Exhibition Center’s architecture is inspired by the legendary Golden Turtle of Co Loa.

Initiated on August 30, 2024, the project has achieved significant milestones in just over eight months. The most remarkable progress is the indoor exhibition area, with the iconic “Golden Turtle” taking shape.

The exhibition space is created under the sturdy shell of the Golden Turtle, divided into nine sections, each spanning over 10,000 sqm, and a grand hall of more than 7,000 sqm. Auxiliary functions include modern banquet halls, conference rooms, and restaurants, catering to exhibitions across all fields and industries.

In Eastern culture, the turtle is one of the four sacred animals, symbolizing stability and longevity. The Golden Turtle is especially linked to the legend of protecting the “geographically blessed and talented people” of Co Loa, Dong Anh.

The National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh boasts an open space imbued with a spirit of integration, designed following modern Expo models worldwide.

With a total outdoor exhibition area of 20.6 hectares, the project is also the second-largest outdoor exhibition center globally and the largest in Asia.

The project features a grand hall spanning over 7,000 sqm, a dome reaching 56.26 meters high, and an outer diameter of approximately 360 meters.

Various components are in the final stages of completion, revealing an international-standard exhibition and fair complex.

Each construction item is being expedited, unveiling the visage of a world-class exhibition and fair complex.

The project is expected to be completed by July 2025, commemorating the 80th National Day anniversary (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), after ten months of construction.

Auxiliary facilities include a 12,680 sqm Convention and Wedding Center with a capacity of 4,500 people, an A-class office tower and a 42-story 5-star hotel, two smaller indoor exhibition buildings, and amenities such as banquet halls, conference rooms, restaurants, and logistics areas. The project is expected to significantly enhance the urban landscape of Northeast Hanoi and generate a massive influx of visitors, stimulating unprecedented commercial, accommodation, and consumption demands.
