Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh once again emphasized the multi-faceted importance of promoting transport infrastructure projects. These projects serve the country’s three breakthrough strategies and act as a catalyst for economic growth, targeting an 8% increase in 2025 and double-digit figures in subsequent years.
“The sooner these projects are completed, the more efficient they will be, without capital escalation or delays, bringing joy to the people and excitement to society, and fostering the development of localities and the nation,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister also noted that on the occasion of the 80th National Day (August 19), the country will commence and inaugurate 80 major projects. So far, Vietnam has completed 2,268 km of expressways and aims to add another 800 km by the end of this year.
Notably, the Long Thanh International Airport project has “awakened after years of slumber.” The connecting road to Long Thanh Airport is being actively implemented, and Terminal 3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport has been put into operation. However, the Prime Minister instructed to promptly address the issue at Terminal 3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport.
“Throwing oneself wholeheartedly” into the work as if it were one’s own
The Prime Minister commended Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for their efforts, especially in land clearance for projects, which is often a challenging and time-consuming task. He also acknowledged the efforts of Tuyen Quang province in allocating capital for the Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang expressway project and the provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
He instructed the leaders to actively engage, regularly inspect, and remove obstacles for the projects, “throwing oneself wholeheartedly” into the work as if it were one’s own.
For project owners, management boards, and contractors, he emphasized the need to closely monitor progress, ensure timely completion, enhance quality, prevent capital escalation and waste, and foster a sense of responsibility.
Moving forward, the Prime Minister stressed that the fundamental goals for these projects remain unchanged: ensuring and accelerating progress, enhancing quality, avoiding capital escalation and delays, and preventing corruption, negativity, and waste.
The Government leader also requested that ministries, sectors, agencies, investors, management boards, and contractors strictly follow the directions and make thorough preparations for the commencement and inauguration of major projects and works on August 19.
