On May 9th, the People’s Committee of Đắk Lắk Province announced that the Political Bureau has decided to extend the special mechanisms and policies for the newly merged wards and communes in Buôn Ma Thuột City. This decision comes after the National Assembly approved a resolution in 2022 to pilot special mechanisms and policies for the development of Buôn Ma Thuột City.

The special policies include financial management, state budget allocation, planning management delegation, investment incentives, and support for experts and scientists. These policies have significantly boosted the city’s economic development.

The newly merged wards and communes in Buôn Ma Thuột City will continue to benefit from the special mechanisms and policies.

Mr. Tran Duc Nhat, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Buôn Ma Thuột City, emphasized the importance of maintaining these policies to prevent a “policy gap” during the merger process. He also stated that retaining the special mechanisms and policies will support the city’s major programs, including new planning, infrastructure investment, digital transformation, and smart city development.

Following the merger, Buôn Ma Thuột City will comprise six administrative units at the ward and commune levels: Buôn Ma Thuột, Tan An, Tan Lap, Thanh Nhat, Ea Kao, and Hoa Phu.
