On May 10, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police announced that they had decided to initiate legal proceedings and prosecute Lai Thi Tuyet (35 years old), Luu Hoang Long (32 years old), and Lai Chi Tinh (24 years old), all residing in Dong Xoai City, Binh Phuoc Province, for “Production and Trading of Counterfeit Goods.”

This decision has been approved by the Provincial People’s Procuracy.

Area used by the group to produce counterfeit perfume

According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2024, authorities detected several social media accounts advertising and selling perfume of unknown origin. Further investigation led to the identification of the account owners, who were found to be residing in Dong Xoai City.

Subsequently, the Binh Phuoc Provincial Police raided four locations, including two warehouses storing raw materials and chemicals, and two points of bottling, mixing, and packaging, all located in Tan Dong Ward and Tien Hung Commune, Dong Xoai City.

Police seized thousands of bottles of counterfeit perfume with “Made in Dubai” labels

During the raids, the police seized approximately 20,000 bottles of finished perfume, tens of thousands of empty bottles, chemicals, raw materials, and other evidence, with the total value of the seized goods estimated at VND 16 billion.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to purchasing the chemicals, raw materials, labels, and packaging online. Long, in particular, was responsible for manually mixing the chemicals and raw materials in a large pot, using an eggbeater to blend them before pouring the mixture into smaller bottles ranging from 10ml to 50ml using syringes or specialized equipment.

The group then affixed labels and packaging with fake “Made in Dubai (UAE)” markings and barcodes before selling the counterfeit products on the market.

According to the investigation agency, the total value of the goods sold by the group reached approximately VND 50 billion, with illegal profits exceeding VND 10 billion. This case is the largest of its kind in the province to date, involving the production and trade of counterfeit goods.
