To maintain their growth trajectory after a subdued first quarter, automakers in Vietnam have not only maintained but also enhanced their promotional programs in May. With discounts ranging from tens to hundreds of millions of dong, they aim to attract customers with appealing offers.

Honda

After significantly reducing incentives last month, Honda has rejoined the price reduction “race” in May. The Japanese automaker is offering a 50% discount on registration fees for a range of key models, including the City, Civic (RS/G), CR-V (L/G), and BR-V.

Among these models, the CR-V receives the highest discount, with an equivalent value of approximately 51.5–55 million VND for the G and L trims (priced at 1.029–1.099 billion VND). The discounts for other Honda models vary between 25 and 44.5 million VND, depending on the model and trim level.

Toyota

This May, Toyota has added the Corolla Cross to the list of vehicles eligible for a 50% registration fee support. This translates to a discount of roughly 41–46 million VND, bringing the price of the Corolla Cross down to 779–859 million VND for the gasoline and hybrid versions, respectively.

Similar incentives are offered for the Vios, Veloz Cross, Avanza Premio, and Yaris Cross. For the Vios, the discount amounts to 23, 25, and 27 million VND for the E-MT, E-CVT, and G-CVT trims, respectively. As a result, the price of this B-segment sedan now ranges from 435 to 518 million VND, depending on the trim.

Meanwhile, the Veloz Cross benefits from a 32–33 million VND discount, while the Avanza Premio receives a reduction of 28–30 million VND. This brings the prices of these MPVs to 606–635 million VND and 530–568 million VND, respectively, for the month of May. Lastly, the Yaris Cross sees a price cut of 33–38 million VND, resulting in a new price range of 617–727 million VND.

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi is also actively participating in the competition by offering a 50% registration fee support for most of its current models. Notably, the Xpander MPV, priced at 560–698 million VND, receives a discount of 28–35 million VND.

Mitsubishi’s flagship models, the Xpander and Xforce, both receive discounts this May.

The second best-selling model for Mitsubishi, the Xforce, continues to benefit from a 50% registration fee support for all trims except the GLX base model. This translates to a discount of 32–35.5 million VND. For the Triton pickup truck, the discount ranges from 20 to 28 million VND. The Attrage sedan, in its CVT Premium trim, receives a 24.5 million VND discount, while the MT trim is eligible for a 100% registration fee support, equivalent to 38 million VND.

Subaru and Nissan

The Subaru Forester remains one of the models with the highest discounts this May. Subaru is offering special prices for the 2024 VIN Forester SUV, ranging from 799 to 969 million VND, depending on the trim. This translates to a discount of 170–230 million VND, an increase of 30 million VND compared to the previous month.

In parallel with the Forester, the Crosstrek subcompact SUV also receives a discount of 99–139 million VND for the gasoline and hybrid versions. After the discount, the prices of these models are adjusted to 999 million VND and 1.129 billion VND, respectively.

Nissan

Nissan has adjusted its promotional strategy for May, now offering a 50% registration fee support for only a few select models, including the Almera V (2024 VIN), Navara EL 2WD, and Navara EL 2WD Upgrade. This translates to a discount of approximately 26.5–35 million VND.
