Following this, in the afternoon of May 10 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and President V. Putin met with the press.

Speaking to the press, the Russian President expressed his delight in welcoming General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam to their official visit to the Russian Federation and participation in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. President Putin sincerely thanked Vietnam for sending a delegation of the Vietnam People’s Army to attend the military parade.

President Putin informed that during the talks, the two sides decided on many important issues that would orient the expansion and elevation of bilateral relations to a new height, which was concretized through cooperation agreements in all fields signed earlier the same day between leaders of ministries, sectors, and localities.

During the talks, the two sides also discussed international and regional issues of mutual interest. They reached a high level of consensus on their positions, affirming their support for each other’s independence, sovereignty, and non-interference in internal affairs, as well as mutual support in international forums, making important contributions to stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region. They affirmed their commitment to further deepening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in the future.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated the Russian Federation on the successful and solemn celebration of the 77th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. The General Secretary emphasized that the victory in the Great Patriotic War would forever be etched in human history, honoring the great contributions and sacrifices of the Soviet Red Army, including those who laid down their lives, for the national independence of allied countries, in the fight against fascism, and for the freedom, peace, and happiness of humanity. This also educates the younger generation today about the value of peace and the heroic traditions of the nation.

General Secretary To Lam shared that Vietnam had also just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, a historic event that marked a glorious chapter in the nation’s history and symbolized the triumph of revolutionary heroism and human intelligence. This event is not only a great victory of the 20th century but also a significant international event with profound spirit and meaning.

These two events become even more meaningful due to the close bond and mutual support between Vietnam and Russia during the formative years of these heroic traditions.

General Secretary To Lam shared that the two sides had just concluded very successful talks in an open, sincere, and trustworthy atmosphere, exchanging views on bilateral cooperation areas as well as regional and global issues of mutual concern.

The two sides affirmed that the leaders and people of Vietnam and the Russian Federation always treasure the traditional friendship between the two countries, which has been tested by time and continuously consolidated and developed for the long-term benefit of the two peoples, contributing to peace and development in the region and the world.

Based on the achievements made, the two leaders agreed on major orientations for the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era of cooperation. They agreed on the need for specific projects that symbolize the friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in this new era.
