On the morning of May 11, a grand Parade and People’s March took place at Haiphong City Theater Square with the participation of 2,900 people, attracting the attention of tens of thousands of local residents and tourists. This was one of the highlights of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Haiphong Liberation (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2025) and the Red Phoenix Flower Festival – Haiphong 2025.
The Parade and People’s March was organized to honor and showcase the growth and development of various forces in the city’s renewal and advancement while celebrating the proud historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions of Haiphong. It highlighted the city’s 70-year journey of pride since its liberation in 1955, depicting its transformative progress.
This event also aimed to inspire a spirit of aspiration, dynamism, creativity, and determination for continuous breakthroughs in the heroic port city’s integration and comprehensive development.
Despite the early morning rain, tens of thousands of Haiphong residents and visitors from other provinces gathered at the Haiphong City Theater Square to witness the Parade and March commemorating the 70th anniversary of Haiphong Liberation.
Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee, in his opening remarks, stated that the struggle for Haiphong’s liberation is a testament to the strength of national unity and the resilient will of the people, who remained unwavering in the face of adversity, trusting in the Party and the revolutionary path. This ultimately contributed to the glorious victory of the Vietnamese nation, ushering in a new era of development in the history of the Party Committee, the revolution, and the city of Haiphong.
Haiphong, 70 years later, is not just a city of ships and waves but also a testament to the spirit of ambition and burning patriotism, accelerating its development to live up to the legacy left by our forefathers – a proud city that embraces its past as it boldly strides towards the future.
“Building on the glorious traditions of our nation and the spirit of Haiphong Liberation in 1955, the Party Committee, authorities, and people of the city are committed to achieving the highest results in economic and social development, striving to accomplish the goals and tasks of building and defending the country in this era of surging development,” emphasized Mr. Cuong.
The Parade and People’s March featured 48 blocks, including 42 marching blocks and a large-displacement motorcycle convoy. The marching blocks consisted of 4 ceremonial blocks, 17 armed forces blocks, and 21 civilian blocks representing various agencies, units, and localities in the city. Additionally, there were 6 stationary blocks, bringing the total number of participants to approximately 2,900.
The marching route covered the central streets of the city: Tran Hung Dao – Haiphong City Theater Square – Quang Trung – in front of the statue of Female General Le Chan – Nguyen Duc Canh – Tran Phu.
The 70th anniversary of Haiphong Liberation Parade and People’s March painted the city with vibrant colors, blending historical traditions with modern and integrative spirit.
