The adjusted master plan for the Long Thanh International Airport outlines a land requirement of approximately 5,000 hectares, including 570 hectares under military management, 480 hectares for joint civil and military use, and nearly 3,950 hectares for civil aviation management.
The width of the second runway, located about 400 meters north of the first runway, has been reduced from 60 meters to 45 meters.
The plan includes the development of parallel taxiways, rapid exit taxiways, connecting taxiways, and common technical infrastructure to facilitate synchronized operations with the first runway.
Additionally, an international medical quarantine headquarters spanning 0.45 hectares has been proposed for the southern area of the main road axis. The location of the animal and plant quarantine headquarters has also been rearranged.
Other contents remain unchanged according to the previous resolutions and decisions of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction).

The Ministry of Construction has instructed the Vietnam Aviation Authority and relevant units to thoroughly review the planning of constructions to propose appropriate adjustments and supplements that align with operational requirements and investment development. They are also responsible for calculating and determining technical factors to ensure rationality and make adjustments or handle contents within their authority. Matters beyond their authority will be reported to the Ministry of Construction for consideration.
The Long Thanh International Airport project has a total investment of VND 336,630 billion (equivalent to USD 16.3 billion), making it the largest international airport project in Vietnam in terms of scale and capacity.
The project is divided into three phases. The first phase commenced in early 2021 and is expected to be operational by 2026, with a capacity to serve 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo annually. Upon completion, Long Thanh International Airport will feature four runways, four passenger terminals, and auxiliary items, with a capacity to serve 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year.
