An impressive fleet of 20 VinFast VF 8s in red graces the streets of Hai Phong, as seen in this photo by Không Lòng Vòng. These vehicles are set to participate in the 2025 Red Phoenix Flower Festival, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the city’s liberation.

This stunning fleet includes two VinFast VF 8 convertibles, which stand out from the rest. While bearing a strong resemblance to the commercially available VF 8 models, these two seem to be custom-made for the event rather than special orders from government agencies. The only noticeable difference lies in the absence of a roof, offering a glimpse into the interior. One can discern that one vehicle is a converted Plus version, while the other is an Eco model, distinguishable by their distinct wheel designs.

This isn’t the first time VinFast VF 8 convertibles have been spotted in public. Previously, similar models made unofficial appearances at internal events hosted by the Vingroup conglomerate.

In 2024, four VF 8 convertibles were witnessed at the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Mobile Police Force in Hanoi, as well as the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory. Notably, those vehicles were painted in colors specific to the requirements and standards of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense.

According to VinFast, their engineers have meticulously researched and applied technical solutions to ensure the safety and aesthetic appeal of the VF 8 convertibles. To maintain structural integrity after removing the roof and pillars, the body gaps have been reinforced with a special foam layer, enhancing stability and the connection with the pillar trim. The underbody has been strengthened with an additional frame, treated with a unique anti-rust and waterproof coating.

The vehicle’s floor has been reinforced with a supplementary frame for flatness and stability, and it has also been treated with anti-rust and waterproof coatings. Custom-designed armrests and supports for the honor guard have been installed, and the electrical system has been reconfigured compared to the standard VF 8, with a focus on improved waterproofing due to the absence of a roof.

The software engineers have disabled certain features, such as eSIM and Wi-Fi connectivity. Additionally, some safety features included in the standard VF 8’s ADAS package have been adjusted to align with the intended usage of these unique vehicles.
