According to investigators, authorities discovered an individual using a fake Facebook account to scam multiple people. This individual employed sophisticated tactics, including creating dozens of fake social media accounts with high interaction, using disposable phone numbers, and buying and selling multiple bank accounts under other people’s names to conceal their criminal activities and launder money.
Specifically, the perpetrator created and used multiple fake Facebook accounts to post advertisements for buying and selling electronic devices in groups nationwide. They then used tricks to create fake interactions and comments to boost their credibility.
When buyers contacted the seller, the perpetrator, identified as Huynh Truong Anh, would request a deposit and subsequently block communication with the buyer, stealing their deposit.
Using this scheme, the perpetrator scammed thousands of victims across the country, including in Da Nang, of nearly VND 5 billion.
After an investigation, authorities identified the perpetrator as Huynh Truong Anh (born 1996, permanent residence in Phu Thanh, Tra On district, Vinh Long province), who was hiding in Hau Giang province. On May 8, 2025, a task force, in collaboration with the Mái Dầm town police, arrested the individual at a rental house in Phu Xuan ward.

It is recommended to use trusted websites or fan pages to avoid falling victim to such sophisticated scams.
