On May 13th, the Dong Nai Housing Management Company, which operates four blocks of social housing apartments in Quang Vinh Ward, Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai), announced that there are currently 43 vacant units in this social housing complex, with 32 already returned and 11 more to be returned in the future.

Four blocks of social housing apartments in Quang Vinh Ward with 270 households absent during the authorities’ inspection

Previously, in accordance with legal regulations on the management, use, rental, and purchase of social housing in Bien Hoa City, on April 20th, a team from the Dong Nai Department of Construction inspected the occupancy of four blocks of social housing apartments in Quang Vinh Ward. At the time of the inspection, 270 households were absent, accounting for approximately 38% of the households subject to inspection.

Regarding the absent households, the Dong Nai Housing Management Company stated that some had informed them of their absence due to work commitments, while others had requested to terminate their contracts and return the apartments in the near future.

The company has proposed to the Department of Construction that they will continue to invite and directly contact the households who have not yet responded to verify their occupancy status and will provide a report in the coming period. For cases where it is found that the occupants no longer meet the eligibility criteria for social housing, the company will encourage them to voluntarily return the apartments within the specified timeframe. If they do not comply, the company will take administrative measures such as temporarily suspending or restricting utility services like electricity and water to encourage compliance. If they still refuse to vacate, the company will report to the Department of Construction, who will then submit a request to the Provincial People’s Committee for a decision to enforce the retrieval of the social housing units according to legal procedures.

With regard to the 366 cases of absence (accounting for over 40% of the households subject to inspection) during the inspection team’s visit to the four social housing projects in Bien Hoa City, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Dong Nai, Ho Van Ha, has requested a report from the Department of Construction. He has also directed that in cases of misuse, whether by ineligible occupants or those who now own other properties but continue to occupy social housing, the department should propose the retrieval of the units and recommend that the employing agencies or units take appropriate disciplinary action against their employees or members.
