The joy of Mrs. Vu Thi Nan from Ea Sar commune, Ea Kar district, Dak Lak province, was palpable as she talked about the successful lychee harvest this year. Her 4.4-hectare lychee farm is expected to yield 25-30 tons of fruit. Since the start of the season, she has been selling lychees at a price of 55,000 VND per kilogram.

Lychees ripen early in Ea Sar, Ea Kar district.
Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Director of Thanh Binh Agricultural Services Cooperative in Ea Kar district, shared that the cooperative has 16 members with a total cultivation area of over 100 hectares. They also collaborate with approximately 2,000 hectares of lychee farms within and outside the province.
Favorable weather conditions this year contributed to the healthy growth of the lychee trees, resulting in a high rate of flowering and fruiting. The average yield is estimated at around 10 tons per hectare. Since the beginning of the season, the cooperative has exported 10 containers (approximately 120-130 tons of lychees) to the Chinese market.
Mr. Binh added that with the purchase price ranging from 50,000 to 60,000 VND per kilogram, lychee farmers can expect a profit of about 300 million VND per hectare after deducting production costs.

Farmers are delighted with the abundant and profitable lychee harvest.
Mr. Ha Trung Tuong, Vice Chairman of Ea Sar commune, shared that the area is a key region for early-ripening lychees in Ea Kar district. This year, the commune has 400 hectares of lychee farms, of which 320 hectares are ready for harvest, with an estimated yield of 5,000 tons.
To enhance the value of the lychees and ensure consumer safety, the local authorities have implemented various solutions. They organized production models following VietGAP standards and emphasized proper crop care according to standardized procedures to ensure uniform fruit development. The commune also advised farmers to harvest lychees when they are 75-85% ripe to guarantee optimal quality and appearance.

Lychees from Dak Lak, ripening early, have been exported to China, Japan, and Cambodia.
Mr. Y Non Mlo, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ea Kar district, provided additional insights. He stated that the district has a total lychee cultivation area of 1,095 hectares, of which 700 hectares are currently being harvested.
The price of lychees at the beginning of the season ranged from 55,000 to 62,000 VND per kilogram, a significant increase from last year’s price of 40,000-45,000 VND per kilogram. In 2024, the main market for Dak Lak lychees was the southern provinces, but this year, they have successfully entered Japan, China, and Cambodia.
Dak Lak province has a total lychee cultivation area of 3,264 hectares, of which 2,046 hectares are ready for harvest, with an estimated total yield of nearly 21,180 tons (a yield of over 10 tons per hectare). The lychee-growing areas are concentrated in Ea Kar, Krong Nang, Krong Pak, and Mdrak districts.
