The People’s Committee of Quang Tri province has made a decision to adjust the investment policy and continue to approve the AE Joint Stock Group as the investor of the project “AE Resort – Cua Tung coastal ecological urban area” in Vinh Linh district.

According to the new decision, the investor is granted an extension of the construction schedule for phase 1 of the project until the fourth quarter of 2027. This phase includes the construction of 100 villas, 32 shophouses, technical infrastructure, entertainment facilities, and accompanying utilities.
The Quang Tri People’s Committee emphasizes that if the investor fails to complete the project by the new deadline, they will not be refunded their deposit and will be subject to consideration for handling and termination of the project in accordance with regulations.
The AE Resort – Cua Tung project, invested by AE Joint Stock Group, received investment approval in April 2018. The project covers an area of 36.54 hectares, stretching over 1.2 km of coastline, with a total expected investment of nearly VND 493 billion.
According to the initial plan, the project was scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2021. However, six years after the groundbreaking ceremony, the project is still far from completion.
After missing the 2021 deadline, the Quang Tri province adjusted the project schedule to the third quarter of 2024. However, as of May 12, 2025, the construction remains unfinished. Some components, such as fences, transformer stations, and villa foundations, have been built, while the rest of the site is abandoned and overgrown with weeds.

The AE Resort – Cua Tung project was once expected to bring a breakthrough to Cua Tung beach tourism, create jobs for local people, and contribute to the economic development of the region. However, contrary to the initial commitments, the prolonged delay has caused public dissatisfaction.
Previously, Tien Phong Newspaper reported on a series of billion-dollar projects that were left abandoned in Quang Tri province, including the AE Resort – Cua Tung, highlighting the risk of “drawing projects to get land”, wasting resources, and the need to tighten investor responsibilities.
