Vietjet is transferring 50 Boeing 737 aircraft to Vietjet Thailand as part of a purchase agreement for 200 aircraft between Vietjet and Boeing.
This event took place during the first official visit of a Thai Prime Minister to Vietnam in over a decade, promising to contribute to the economic development of tourism and strengthen connectivity between the two countries and the region.
As per the agreement, Vietjet will hand over the rights to operate 50 Boeing 737 aircraft to Vietjet Thailand. This is part of a larger purchase agreement for 200 aircraft that Vietjet previously signed with Boeing. The first aircraft are expected to be delivered from October 2025, with a total of 9 planned for delivery this year.
This transfer will enable Vietjet Thailand to significantly expand its domestic and international network, especially enhancing connectivity between Thailand and Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairman of the Board of Vietjet, emphasized: “The transfer of the modern and efficient Boeing 737-8 fleet to Vietjet Thailand demonstrates Vietjet’s long-term commitment to the sustainable development of regional aviation. We will act to implement the ‘Triple Connection’ strategy between the two countries, encompassing supply chain, business, and local connections.”

Ms. Penny Burtt, Boeing Regional President (third from left, front row), Vietjet President Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (center, front row), and Vietjet Thailand CEO Woranate Laprabang (third from right, front row) signed the agreement to transfer 50 Boeing 737 aircraft to Vietjet Thailand, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
Additionally, Boeing will provide comprehensive technical support services to Vietjet Thailand, including pilot and engineer training, maintenance, and product services, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the new aircraft in the Thai market.
This new cooperation agreement marks a strategic step forward in the deployment of modern narrow-body aircraft in Southeast Asia and showcases the strong and effective collaboration between Vietnamese, Thai, and American businesses. This collaboration aligns with the two countries’ shared vision for ASEAN Community 2025 and beyond, with a focus on digital transformation, sustainable development, and narrowing development gaps among member states.
