After a 12-year hiatus, G-Dragon is set to return to Vietnam, performing at the K-Star Spark event at My Dinh Stadium on June 21st. This news has sent excitement rippling through the Vietnamese K-pop fan community. Devoted fans are willing to spend a small fortune for a chance to see their idol and collect merchandise from his brand, including the highly coveted Day-G Bong lightstick.

More than just a cheering accessory, the Day-G Bong lightstick has become a sensation, with a unique design that reflects G-Dragon’s personal style.

Vietnamese fans are eagerly hunting down G-Dragon’s lightstick ahead of his upcoming performance in Vietnam in June.

Released in March 2025, the Day-G Bong is the first personal lightstick since G-Dragon’s solo career began. Inspired by the iconic wingless white chrysanthemum – a symbol closely associated with his fashion brand, Peaceminusone, and many of his musical releases – this lightstick is unlike any other on the K-pop market.

Designed in the shape of a white chrysanthemum with a yellow center, complete with a stem and leaves, it resembles a real flower. A unique feature is its ability to be attached directly to a flower pot-shaped stand, transforming it into a decorative piece.

When illuminated, the flower can switch to a vibrant rainbow mode, with each petal glowing in a different color. The pot also doubles as a power bank, providing an additional source of electricity.

In addition to the standard version, G-Dragon launched a mini key chain version that, despite its compact size, retains the glowing capabilities of the original, further fueling fans’ desire to own one.

The lightstick takes the form of a white chrysanthemum with a yellow center, complete with a stem and leaves, resembling a real flower.

From the moment it went on sale, the Day-G Bong sold out across all official platforms. The initial price was set at 58,000 won (approximately $45) for the lightstick, 25,000 won (around $20) for the flower pot stand, and 27,000 won (about $21) for the key chain.

Purchasing the complete set would cost fans over 80,000 won (more than $60) – a figure nearly double the average price of lightsticks from other K-pop artists.

Nevertheless, most fans believe that the price is justified by the quality, creativity, and aesthetic value the product offers. To them, it is not just an ordinary lightstick but also a fashion accessory and a collectible artwork that embodies G-Dragon’s style.

Currently, the lightstick’s price has increased to five times its original cost, and it is even being resold for up to $400.

In Vietnam, this lightstick is not officially distributed, forcing fans to rely on international e-commerce platforms or resellers. During the period of scarcity, prices soared, yet the demand remained high. Some resellers even listed the lightstick for nearly $400, making it one of the most expensive lightsticks ever sought after in Vietnam.

Seizing the opportunity, many “trade merchants” sourced the lightsticks from G-Dragon’s tour stops, where they were still available in limited quantities, and resold them at exorbitant prices.

In response to the product’s intense popularity, prominent G-Dragon fan pages in Vietnam urged the fan community to remain calm and rational, warning against FOMO-driven purchases that could result in acquiring inferior products.

It is indeed a challenge to get your hands on merchandise bearing the ‘K-pop king’ label, as his products sell out fast and rarely get restocked.
