Vietjet and Boeing Collaborate for Thailand’s Aviation Growth

In a significant development, Vietjet and Boeing have entered into an agreement to transfer 50 Boeing 737 aircraft to Vietjet Thailand, boosting tourism and economic ties between Thailand and Vietnam, as well as other regional countries. This event was graced by the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, marking the first official visit by a Thai Prime Minister to Vietnam in over a decade.
As per the agreement, Vietjet will transfer 50 Boeing 737 aircraft to its Thai counterpart as part of a previously signed contract for 200 aircraft between Vietjet and Boeing. The first deliveries are expected as early as October 2025, enabling Vietjet Thailand to substantially expand its domestic and international routes, especially between Vietnam and Thailand.
“We are proud to partner with Vietjet and Vietjet Thailand to expand the presence of Boeing 737s in Vietnam and Thailand,” said Penny Burtt, Boeing’s regional president. “Together, we aim to connect communities and drive economic growth, paving the way for a prosperous future in Vietnam, Thailand, and dynamic Southeast Asia.”
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, President of Vietjet Group, emphasized: “The transfer of 50 modern and efficient Boeing 737-8 aircraft to Vietjet Thailand underscores Vietjet’s long-term commitment to the sustainable development of regional aviation. We are dedicated to realizing the ‘Triple Connection’ strategy between our nations, encompassing supply chain, business, and local connections.”
Boeing will also provide comprehensive technical support to Vietjet Thailand, including pilot and engineer training, maintenance, and product services, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the new aircraft fleet in the Thai market.
This new cooperation marks a significant step forward in the extensive and productive collaboration between Vietnamese, Thai, and American businesses, with a shared focus on digital transformation, sustainable development, and bridging developmental gaps between nations.
