The Drug Administration Department of Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has issued a nationwide recall of Hanayuki Sunscreen Body, a sun protection cream, sold in 100-gram tubes.

Hanayuki Sunscreen Body 100-gram tube recalled

The product’s label displays the following information: PCB reception number: 779/24/CBMP-DN; batch number: 0010125; manufacturing date: 060125; and expiration date: 050127. VB Group JSC, located on the mezzanine floor of the Dai Thanh Binh Building, 911-913-915-917 Nguyen Trai Street, Ward 14, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, is responsible for distributing this product in the market. EBC Group JSC, based in Giang Dien Industrial Park, Giang Dien Commune, Trang Bom District, Dong Nai Province, manufactures it.

Testing conducted by the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Quality Control Institute revealed that the sun protection factor (SPF) value on the label (SPF 50) did not match the test results, which showed an SPF of only 2.4.

The product’s cosmetic announcement, issued by the Dong Nai Provincial Department of Health, states that Hanayuki Sunscreen Body is intended to “protect the skin from the sun, moisturize and whiten the whole body.” However, it does not mention an SPF value of 50 as indicated on the product’s label.

According to experts, SPF measures the protection against UVB rays, which are harmful to the skin.

In light of these findings, the Drug Administration Department has requested an immediate halt to the trading and use of this product and advised returning it to the supplier. Local authorities have been instructed to recall the violating batch, monitor compliance, and impose penalties on violators in accordance with current regulations.

VB Group JSC and EBC Dong Nai JSC are required to notify distributors and users of this batch about the recall. They must also accept returns from retailers and retrieve all non-compliant products.

If the violating elements cannot be separated from the goods (e.g., removing the violating label), the products must be destroyed according to regulations.

Additionally, the Drug Administration Department has requested the Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Provincial Departments of Health to supervise the recall process and ensure compliance with cosmetic production and trading regulations. Violations will be handled and penalized according to current laws.

Just days earlier, the Drug Administration Department had issued a similar recall and destruction order for Hanayuki Shampoo (300-gram bottle), also marketed by VB Group JSC, due to microbial limit violations and the presence of an unlisted ingredient.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu, the legal representative and general director of VB Group JSC, is the husband of singer and businesswoman Doan Di Bang, who has frequently promoted both Hanayuki Sunscreen Body and Hanayuki Shampoo on social media platforms.

In a clip, Doan Di Bang claimed to have used the product herself before selling it and recommended it for sun protection. Screenshot

Hanayuki Sunscreen Body has been advertised on e-commerce platforms as having toning, whitening, and UVB protection capabilities of up to 98%. It is priced between 230,000 and 250,000 VND.
