The Long An Provincial Department of Construction is currently finalizing investment plans for the Tan An – Binh Hiep road project, which will run parallel to the existing National Highway 62. This road will serve as a vital transportation link, connecting the provincial center to the Dong Thap Muoi region and the Kingdom of Cambodia.

With a total length of approximately 63.5 km, the road will begin at the intersection of Provincial Road 834B and the Tan An Ring Road and end at Provincial Road 831, about 1.8 km from Binh Hiep Junction.

The road will pass through Thu Thua (3.15 km), Thanh Hoa (34.6 km), Moc Hoa (13.3 km), and Kien Tuong (12.4 km) districts. It is designed to accommodate 8-10 lanes of traffic, with the first phase involving the construction of 6 lanes and the second phase expanding to the full 8-10 lanes. The project will require a 60-meter wide corridor, with 30 meters on each side of the road’s centerline.

Three investment options are under consideration: a public investment model with a total investment of nearly VND 8,500 billion; a public-private partnership (PPP) model with a total investment of over VND 9,400 billion for a one-time payment after completion, or a total investment of over VND 11,100 billion for a 5-year deferred payment plan.

Currently, the only existing route from the provincial center to the Dong Thap Muoi region is National Highway 62, which has a 6-meter wide road and a 9-meter wide pavement, accommodating just two lanes of traffic. This road has deteriorated over the years and is no longer adequate for the region’s development needs.

The Tan An – Binh Hiep road is expected to be a pivotal infrastructure project, providing a vital transport link between the provincial center and the Dong Thap Muoi region, while also offering a direct connection to Cambodia. This new route will create additional development opportunities and complement the existing National Highway 62.

At a recent meeting of the Provincial Party Committee, the Long An authorities agreed on the investment policy for the Tan An – Binh Hiep road and instructed the People’s Committee to promptly initiate procedures in accordance with regulations, aiming for construction to commence in early 2026.

Additionally, it has been proposed to include this project as a key work item in the resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the term 2025-2030.
