The VinFast VF 8 is the first Vietnamese car to be exported overseas, targeting demanding markets such as North America and Europe, which boast well-established automotive industries. It’s no surprise then that the VF 8 is being thoroughly tested by users in these regions.

Germany, considered the birthplace of automobiles with its renowned Autobahn highways, is one such market. The Autobahn is famous for its stretches of unlimited speed limits, allowing drivers to legally push their vehicles to the limit.

A German driver took the VinFast VF 8 to the Autobahn to test its top speed.

In the video shared on social media, the user is driving the Plus version of the VinFast VF 8, which features two electric motors producing a combined output of 402 horsepower and 640 Nm of torque.

According to the manufacturer’s specifications, the VF 8 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h.

Typically, these figures are challenging to achieve in real-world driving conditions for vehicles with internal combustion engines due to differences between testing and actual driving environments.

The VinFast VF 8 Plus boasts over 400 horsepower.

However, in this German driver’s test, the VinFast VF 8 performed remarkably close to the published specifications.

Specifically, in the acceleration test, the VF 8 reached 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.5 seconds, matching the claimed figure.

Regarding top speed, the driver was able to push the car to a maximum velocity of 206 km/h, slightly exceeding the stated limit.

In reality, the VinFast VF 8 is electronically limited to a top speed of 200 km/h, not because of the car’s inherent capability but as a measure to protect the battery, motor, and other critical components from excessive stress.

Of course, there’s also the crucial aspect of ensuring the safety of the occupants and other road users.

It’s important to emphasize that this test was conducted on Germany’s unrestricted Autobahn. Users in other markets should not attempt to replicate this, and they are solely responsible for adhering to local laws and ensuring their safety and that of others.
