On the morning of May 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the construction progress of the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Dong Anh district, Hanoi, and urged for its completion to commemorate and host the exhibition of the country’s achievements for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025). He was accompanied by leaders of central ministries, sectors, and Hanoi city.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh works with Vingroup, the investor, and construction units of the National Convention and Exhibition Center project in Dong Anh, Hanoi.

Chairman of Vingroup, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, accompanied Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the delegation to inspect the project’s construction progress.

The Prime Minister was delighted by the bustling construction site and highly appreciated the efforts of the ministries, Hanoi city, and Vingroup. After more than eight months since the groundbreaking ceremony, the large-scale and modern National Convention and Exhibition Center is taking shape and nearing completion as committed.

The Prime Minister requested that, along with completing the main items, the auxiliary works, services, and utilities must also be finished synchronously; fully utilizing the Center’s space; constructing and connecting synchronous infrastructure regarding transportation, electricity, water supply, telecommunications, and other modern infrastructure; and ensuring environmental landscape, etc.

The Prime Minister requested that the construction of the Center must be basically completed by the end of July 2025. The project will be of regional and global stature, through which people can enjoy the development achievements, culture, and arts of the country and the world.

During the working session, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also visited and encouraged the project’s engineers and workers.
A World-Class Project Takes Shape
The National Convention and Exhibition Center in Dong Anh district is a key national project in the field of trade and services, replacing the old Exhibition Center in Giang Vo. Construction began in August 2024, and it is forecasted to be the capital’s new “wonder,” igniting a vibrant “Expo” economy, comparable to global trade centers.
Up to now, the project is in the completion phase and is expected to be finished by July 2025 as committed. Specifically, the outer canopy is expected to be completed by June 10, 2025, and the exterior glass doors are expected to be completed by June 30, 2025.
The indoor exhibition area (the main exhibition area), M&E system, and auxiliary houses are expected to be completed by July 15, 2025.

The complex includes an indoor exhibition building resembling the image of Kim Quy Turtle with nine subdivisions, totaling over 130,000 square meters, four outdoor exhibition parks with a total scale of up to 20.6 hectares, two small indoor exhibition houses, a convention and wedding center, an A-class office tower, a five-star hotel managed by Marriott, and diverse auxiliary works.

The indoor exhibition building is inspired by the architectural image of Kim Quy Turtle in the legend of building the Co Loa citadel, which has now clearly taken shape.

The main canopy symbolizes the head of Kim Quy Turtle, and the eight auxiliary canopies symbolize its legs. The dome is about 56.26 meters high, forming the shape of Kim Quy Turtle’s back.

The exhibition house is circular with one main hall, eight typical exhibition halls on the outside, and one central exhibition hall.

The outer diameter of the exhibition building is about 360 meters, and the diameter of the central exhibition hall is about 120 meters. The typical exhibition halls are fan-shaped, with an exhibition area of about 9,000 square meters, accommodating about 400-450 standard booths of 3x3m each. The central exhibition hall has an exhibition area of about 10,500 square meters.

The exhibition halls can be connected seamlessly to form a grand exhibition with a floor area of tens of thousands of square meters, meeting the requirements of organizing international-level events.
With its completion in July 2025, the National Convention and Exhibition Center project is one of the constructions inaugurated to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It is also the venue for the exhibition of economic and social achievements to commemorate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
