In its recently published global business strategy report, Honda announced that it sold 20.57 million motorcycles in the fiscal year 2024 (April 2024 to March 2025). This is the company’s highest-ever sales figure across 37 countries and territories, accounting for 40% of global motorcycle consumption.

Recognizing the strong growth potential in the Southern Hemisphere, including India – the world’s largest motorcycle market, Honda aims to boost its global motorcycle sales to 60 million units by 2030, according to Paultan.

Honda CUV e: Electric Motorcycle

To achieve this goal, Honda will accelerate the electrification of its two-wheeler products while improving fuel efficiency for its internal combustion engine models.

Notably, Honda will tailor its two-wheeler offerings to specific markets to reduce costs, lower prices, and enhance competitiveness. This strategy will also help optimize the supply chain.

Additionally, the Japanese automaker plans to expand its portfolio of flexible-fuel motorcycle models for unique markets. This strategic move is designed to meet increasingly stringent emission regulations year after year.

The Honda ICON e: is manufactured in Vietnam.

In early 2025, Honda ramped up its electric motorcycle offerings by launching the Active e: and QC1 models in India. This was followed by the global debut of two other electric motorcycle models, the Honda CUV e: and ICON e:, first in Indonesia and then in Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. The CUV e: is expected to enter the European and Japanese markets later this year.

With aspirations to lead the electric motorcycle market, Honda will accelerate investments in infrastructure and optimize production through modularization. The company will commence manufacturing at a dedicated electric motorcycle plant in India, slated to begin operations in 2028.

In Vietnam, Honda rolled out the first ICON e: electric motorcycle in late March 2025. By early April, this student-oriented model was officially on sale, priced at 26.4 million VND (excluding battery rental fees).
