The Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai province has just decided to prosecute and detain Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dan, Chairman of Trang Dai Ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province, for “Abusing position and power in the performance of official duties”.
Illegal construction is rampant in Trang Dai Ward
According to initial information, Mr. Dan was prosecuted for irregularities related to illegal construction in the area. Previously, the investigating agency had arrested an official in charge of urban order of Trang Dai Ward related to illegal construction.
Trang Dai is known as a “super ward” in Dong Nai province with a population of over 120,000. This is also the locality with the most rampant situation of land subdivision and illegal construction on agricultural land in Dong Nai. According to statistics from the People’s Committee of Trang Dai Ward, currently, the number of illegal constructions on agricultural land accounts for more than 78%. Out of a total of 41,000 housing constructions, only 9,000 are built on residential land.
