“Promises Must Be Kept”
The Government Office has just issued Notification No. 248/TB-VPCP dated May 22, 2025, on the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh after inspecting the construction progress of the National Exhibition Center.
After 9 months of construction, the project has initially taken shape with a modern scale, ahead of the initial plan. The center is envisioned as a national symbol, commemorating the 80th National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025). It aims to become a world-class exhibition center, a hub for cultural, historical, and artistic connections, fostering cultural and entertainment industries, and promoting tourism.
Simultaneously, it will form a tourism product of international caliber, a source of pride for Vietnam on the global stage, elevating the country’s role and stature internationally and showcasing its progress in rapid and sustainable development.
Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of Vingroup, accompanied the Prime Minister on an inspection visit to the National Exhibition Center on May 19.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed ministries, sectors, local authorities, and Vingroup to closely coordinate and aggressively accelerate construction, aiming for substantial completion by July 2025 and an official inauguration on August 19, 2025. From August 28 to September 6, 2025, the center will host an exhibition on socio-economic achievements to celebrate the National Day.
Vingroup is tasked with finalizing all main items and auxiliary facilities, services, and landscaping by June 30, 2025, to prepare for the exhibition in July. The Hanoi People’s Committee must proactively invest and allocate funds to complete synchronous infrastructure for transportation, electricity, water, fire protection, and external connections to the center.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will take the lead in organizing cultural and artistic activities to kickstart the exhibition and urgently develop a proposal for the entertainment industry to present to the Prime Minister. The Ministry is also responsible for coordinating with Vingroup and related parties to finalize the exhibition proposal following the principle of “6 clears”: clear people, clear tasks, clear responsibilities, clear authority, clear timelines, and clear results.
Regarding special mechanisms for organizing the exhibition, the Prime Minister agreed in principle but stressed the importance of preventing corruption, negativity, and wastefulness.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh will directly oversee the preparation process. All agencies, units, and Vingroup are expected to implement the directive with a ” do it, don’t retreat ” attitude, understanding that promises must be kept, commitments must be fulfilled, and actions must yield tangible outcomes.
The exhibition of socio-economic achievements to commemorate the 80th National Day (September 2-9, 1945/2025) at the National Exhibition Center will involve all ministries, sectors, and localities nationwide, as well as representative state-owned and private enterprises.
According to proposed plans, the exhibition space could reach up to 260,000 square meters (130,000 square meters indoors and 130,000 square meters outdoors). The exhibition will feature not only displayed artifacts but also 3D mapping projections, virtual reality experiences, multimedia audio-visual works, and applications of digital technology and AI.
National Exhibition Center: A Rapid 9-Month Construction Journey
The National Exhibition Center, located in Dong Hoi, Xuan Canh, Dong Anh District, Hanoi, boasts a super-connected location with convenient access to various destinations.
Situated at Hanoi’s northeast gateway, the project is just a 15-minute drive from Noi Bai International Airport. Getting into the city center is also easy and fast via National Highway 5 Extension, Truong Sa Street, and Dong Tru and Nhat Tan Bridges.
Notably, the planned Tu Lien Bridge, adjacent to the project, will contribute to accommodating the large number of domestic and international visitors expected to attend the fairs and exhibitions.
The project spans 90 hectares, ranking it among the top 10 in the world in terms of total and exhibition area.
The exhibition hall features a circular design with one main lobby, eight typical exhibition areas on the outside, and a central exhibition hall.
The complex includes an indoor exhibition space resembling the image of the Kim Quy Turtle God, spanning over 130,000 square meters across nine zones, four outdoor exhibition parks totaling 20.6 hectares, two small indoor exhibition halls, a conference and wedding center, an A-class office tower, a 5-star hotel to be managed by Marriott, and various auxiliary facilities.
The National Exhibition Center project broke ground on August 30, 2024, and is now in the final stages of completion, on track to meet the July 2025 deadline as committed.
Here’s an updated timeline: External canopy is expected to be completed by June 10, 2025. External glass doors will be finished by June 30, 2025. The indoor exhibition area (main exhibition hall), mechanical and electrical systems, and auxiliary buildings are targeted for completion by July 15, 2025.
