According to sales data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), the association’s members sold a total of 340,142 automobiles in 2024, a 12.6% increase from 2023.
Forecasters predict that the Vietnamese automobile market will grow by approximately 12% in 2025 compared to 2024. Meanwhile, the market trend is likely to continue favoring electric and hybrid vehicles as more customers prioritize environmentally friendly options.
BloombergNEF estimates that electric vehicles will account for about 25% of global automobile sales in 2025, up from 14% in 2023. In Vietnam, electric vehicle (EV) sales are expected to reach approximately 70,000–100,000 units in 2025, doubling the 2024 figure. For hybrid vehicles, sales are projected to reach 50,000–80,000 units in 2025.
Apart from positive market signals, the industry is witnessing strong government support and significant infrastructure investments. Along with the trend of deep integration into the international market, the manufacturing, assembly, and production of automobiles and electric vehicles in Vietnam are presented with robust opportunities for innovation and development.
Mr. Vo Tan Thanh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), stated that the automobile, motorcycle, electric vehicle, and supporting industries in Vietnam are poised for rapid and sustainable growth, especially with the strong trends of green transition, digital transformation, and international integration.
Simultaneously, the government is focusing on developing modern transportation infrastructure to lay the foundation for economic growth and improve living standards.
However, Mr. Vo Tan Thanh also noted that to seize these opportunities effectively, businesses need to innovate technologically, improve their products, build their brands, and expand international cooperation. These are crucial factors for enterprises not only to survive but also to thrive sustainably in an increasingly competitive environment.
Sharing this view, Ms. Nguyen Minh Ngoc, Chairman of ATFA, stated that the Ministry of Construction has been allocated a budget of over 80 trillion VND by the government to implement and promote the completion of key projects, such as the North-South Expressway in the Eastern Region and the Ho Chi Minh Road. Additionally, projects like the Long Thanh International Airport and many others will boost rapid growth in the construction machinery, specialized vehicle, technology, and transportation infrastructure sectors.
The 21st International Exhibition on Automobile, Motorcycle, Electric Vehicle, and Supporting Industries (Autotech & Accessories 2025) and the International Exhibition on Construction Machinery, Specialized Vehicles, Technology, and Transportation Infrastructure (Cons & Trans 2025), organized by the Asia Fair and Trade Promotion JSC (ATFA), took place from May 22 to May 25 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.
More than 400 booths from over 300 domestic and foreign enterprises participated in Autotech & Accessories 2025, representing countries and territories such as Vietnam, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysia. They showcased a diverse range of products and solutions in fields like auto parts and accessories, repair and maintenance, and whole vehicles.

Notably, the exhibition also featured a smart electric car model race, fostering innovation and technological application among the youth.
Cons & Trans 2025, in its first edition, attracted nearly 100 businesses with 150 booths, including prominent names in the construction machinery, specialized vehicle, and transportation infrastructure sectors, such as the Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (SAMCO) and Thaco Trailers, a subsidiary of THACO INDUSTRIES.
According to the organizers, the two exhibitions aimed to create a specialized networking platform for enterprises, experts, and policymakers in the fields of construction, specialized vehicles, and transportation infrastructure. This event provided an opportunity to introduce advanced technologies and equipment while promoting cooperation and sustainable development in the industry.
