On May 22, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province is temporarily detaining Nguyen Thanh Dan, Chairman of Trang Dai Ward, Bien Hoa City, and five other individuals from the same ward: Nguyen Ba Thanh (37), Nguyen Van Vinh (44), Nguyen Van Luyen (44), Pham Van Tu (39), and Tran Dinh Hoai (39), for further investigation into allegations of “bribery mediation” and “taking bribes.”

Previously, on May 15, the Dong Nai Provincial Police Investigation Agency caught Nguyen Ba Thanh red-handed, displaying signs of “fraudulent appropriation” criminal behavior.

The authorities promptly arrested Nguyen Van Vinh, Nguyen Van Luyen, and Nguyen Thanh Dan, Chairman of Trang Dai Ward, along with two other ward officials, Pham Van Tu and Tran Dinh Hoai.

Initial investigations reveal that Thanh, Vinh, and Luyen had connections with individuals who were officials in Trang Dai Ward and landowners intending to illegally construct residences on agricultural land. Leveraging these relationships, the trio acted as intermediaries, accepting money from landowners seeking to build illegally.

Upon receiving the funds, Thanh, Vinh, and Luyen would then channel the money to the Trang Dai Ward officials to facilitate procedures for the households to build on agricultural land and provide “protection” to avoid inspections, violation reports, or forced construction halts and demolitions.

The Dong Nai Provincial Investigation Police Agency is diligently pursuing the case and will handle the involved individuals in accordance with the law.
