Fluctuation of domestic gasoline and oil prices from December 26, 2024, to May 22, 2025.

Regarding the reason for the mixed increase and decrease in gasoline and oil prices, the Ministries explained that the world gasoline and oil market during this price adjustment period (from May 15 to May 21, 2025) was influenced by various factors, including: Increased tension in the Middle East; rising crude oil inventories in the US; updates on US tax policies towards trading partners; and the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. These factors caused fluctuations in world gasoline and oil prices over the past few days, with prices rising and falling depending on the product.

Specifically, the average price of world gasoline and oil products between the price adjustment period on May 15, 2025, and May 22, 2025, was as follows: 75,222 USD/barrel for RON92 gasoline, which is used to blend E5 RON92 gasoline (decreased by 0.271 USD/barrel, equivalent to a 0.36% decrease); 76,726 USD/barrel for RON95 gasoline (decreased by 0.267 USD/barrel, equivalent to a 0.35% decrease); 78,916 USD/barrel for kerosene (increased by 0.536 USD/barrel, equivalent to a 0.68% increase); 80,148 USD/barrel for 0.05S diesel oil (increased by 1.035 USD/barrel, equivalent to a 1.31% increase); and 439.476 USD/ton for 180CST 3.5S fuel oil (increased by 12.493 USD/ton, equivalent to a 2.93% increase)

Fluctuation of world gasoline and oil product prices from May 15 to May 21, 2025.

In this price adjustment, given the fluctuations in world gasoline and oil prices, exchange rate movements, and current regulations, the Ministries of Industry and Trade and Finance decided on a price adjustment scheme to ensure that domestic gasoline and oil price changes are consistent with world price movements. The Ministries also aim to maintain a reasonable price difference between bio-fuel E5 RON92 and RON95 gasoline to encourage the use of bio-fuels in line with the government’s policy, and to balance the interests of all market participants.
