On May 23, Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee, had a dialogue with households affected by the Ta Hoet Water Reservoir project in Duc Trong district to directly listen to their thoughts, aspirations, and opinions on land retrieval, compensation, support, and resettlement.

Mr. Le Nguyen Hoang, Chairman of Duc Trong District People’s Committee, provided specific information about the benefits of compensation in the form of resettlement land and details about the 84 vacant resettlement lots available for registration. The district leaders also clarified some misinformation and inaccuracies related to the project that had been circulating.
Representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Environment further elaborated on the overall benefits of the project for the community, including ethnic minority households, and pledged to continue developing infrastructure in the resettlement areas to support livelihoods.
After taking the time to listen to direct opinions in the hall and through survey questionnaires, Mr. Tran Hong Thai expressed his gratitude for the participation and acknowledged all the thoughts and aspirations of the households.
The Chairman affirmed that the Ta Hoet Water Reservoir project is a key project of the province, approved by the Government, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People’s Council, with a total investment of nearly VND 982 billion. The project serves not only socio-economic development but also brings practical benefits to the people of Hiep An commune and Duc Trong district.
Upon completion, the facility will provide clean water for about 65,000 people, ensure irrigation for more than 2,080 hectares of agricultural land, regulate floods, minimize damage from natural disasters, protect the lives and property of people during the rainy season, enhance tourism landscapes, promote aquaculture, and open up new economic opportunities for the locality, especially for ethnic minority households.

“We want to clarify the legal policies, address doubts, and work with the community to find optimal solutions that guarantee their legitimate rights within the framework of legal regulations,” emphasized Mr. Tran Hong Thai.
The Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee leadership pledged to resolve these issues within the framework of the law, ensuring the legitimate rights of the people. They requested the people’s consensus and cooperation with the authorities to overcome difficulties and obstacles, ensuring the project’s timely implementation and early operation for community service and investment efficiency.
After the working session, Mr. Tran Hong Thai directly visited K’Ren village to meet and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of the households affected by the project who could not attend the above working session. The provincial leader emphasized the importance of community participation in the project’s development and pledged to find suitable solutions to address the difficulties faced by the people.
The Ta Hoet Water Reservoir project commenced on February 20, 2023, with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) of Lam Dong province as the investor. The project has a total investment of nearly VND 982 billion, including VND 220 billion for compensation and site clearance.
The Ta Hoet Water Reservoir includes a headworks dam with a watershed area of 73.7 km2, a reservoir capacity of 13.86 million m3, a maximum dam height of 32 m, and a length of 490 m. It also features a water intake structure at the Quang Hiep dam and a network of canals stretching about 71 km.
