At the end of March 2025, rumors of the new Yamaha XMAX 300 arriving at dealerships sparked excitement on online forums, teasing Vietnamese consumers with a promising Maxi-scooter option.

Yesterday, Yamaha Motor Vietnam’s official fan page shared information about the launch event for this highly anticipated model.

According to Yamaha, the event will introduce the XMAX 300 super scooter and other MAX Series models—a range of sporty, tech-savvy, and sophisticated scooters that redefine modern mobility trends and usher in a new era of style and performance for urban commuting and beyond.

In Vietnam, the Yamaha XMAX 300 is poised to be a formidable competitor in the 300cc scooter segment, going head-to-head with renowned names like the Honda SH350i and Vespa GTS Super Tech 300.

Within the 300cc long-distance scooter category, the Yamaha XMAX 300 is considered a more accessible and popular choice. Honda offers the ADV350 from the same lineup, but it is not yet officially available in Vietnam.

The heart of the Yamaha XMAX 300 is its 292cc engine, delivering an impressive 20.6 kW (27.63 hp) at 7,250 rpm and 29 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm.

To put things into perspective, the XMAX 300’s power output surpasses that of the Yamaha Exciter 155 VVA by 1.5 times (13.2 kW / 17.7 hp / 14.4 Nm).

However, while the Exciter 155 employs a 6-speed manual transmission, the XMAX 300 utilizes a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Due to its larger engine, the XMAX 300 has a higher fuel consumption rate compared to standard models, averaging 3.26L/100km. Nonetheless, this figure is slightly more efficient than its rivals in the same class.

What sets the XMAX 300 apart from its competitors is its distinctive design. Departing from the understated elegance of its peers, the XMAX 300 boasts a bold, sporty, and masculine aesthetic, accentuated by sharp, dynamic lines that make a powerful statement.

The scooter’s design draws inspiration from its maxi-scooter elder brother, the TMAX, resulting in a seamless and captivating look.

With overall dimensions of 2,185 x 795 x 1,410mm, a wheelbase of 1,540mm, and a wet weight of 181kg, the XMAX 300 has a seat height of 795mm, making it suitable for riders of average height and above.

Positioned in the premium scooter segment, the Yamaha XMAX 300 boasts a host of modern features at a competitive price of 139 million VND (Vietnamese Dong).

It features a dual digital display with a top screen showing speed, fuel level, and trip meter, while the bottom screen displays rpm, time, temperature, and other notifications.

Additionally, through a dedicated Yamaha app, the scooter can connect to the rider’s smartphone, displaying notifications for messages and calls, as well as phone battery status on the scooter’s screen.

The app also enables riders to view various vehicle parameters, including trip logs, fuel consumption, distance traveled, parking location, maintenance reminders, and even the scooter’s lean angle during rides.

In terms of convenience, the Yamaha XMAX 300 impresses with its spacious under-seat storage capable of accommodating two full-face helmets. It also features full LED lighting, ABS, traction control (TCS), a smart key system, and a two-level ergonomic seat.

One notable advantage of this sporty scooter is its pricing strategy. Yamaha has maintained the same price as the current model, offering the XMAX 300 at an attractive 139 million VND. This competitive pricing is expected to garner significant interest from consumers and poses a strong challenge to its rivals.

The pricing is also more approachable compared to its segment competitors, the Honda SH350i (starting at 152.1 million VND) and the Vespa GTS Super Tech 300 (158.6 million VND).

On April 14, 2025, the upgraded XMAX 300 ABS 2025 was launched in Japan, priced at 737,000 yen (approximately 127 million VND). While the changes were not drastic, Yamaha focused on enhancing weight, convenience, and technology, resulting in an even more optimized riding experience.

For a quick comparison, here are the basic specifications of some notable scooters in this segment, including the Yamaha NVX from the standard category for reference.
