The Ministry of Construction has sent an official dispatch to the Provincial Party Committee Secretary and People’s Committee Chairman of Dak Lak Province, requesting their coordination and direction in resolving land clearance issues for the investment project on the Ho Chi Minh Road, which bypasses Buôn Ma Thuột City to the east.

According to the dispatch, the Ministry of Construction is vigorously directing the investor (Project Management Board for Traffic and Rural Development Investment Projects of Dak Lak Province) and the contractor to concentrate their efforts and expedite the progress to complete the entire project by June 2025 (before the rainy season in the region) while ensuring the required quality standards.

Project delayed due to land clearance issues

Throughout the project’s implementation, the Ministry of Construction has dispatched numerous urgent messages and documents to the local authorities, requesting their support in expediting land clearance to ensure handover by May 15, 2025.

However, as of now, several sections passing through Cư M’gar District and some remaining issues regarding drainage ditches in Krông Pắc and Cư Kuin districts have not been completely resolved.

Many areas along the project route are yet to be cleared

To ensure the project’s completion by June 30 and its subsequent operation, the Ministry of Construction has requested the Provincial Party Committee Secretary and People’s Committee Chairman of Dak Lak Province to continue directing relevant provincial units to accelerate land clearance work.

In the event that land clearance continues to be delayed and fails to meet the requirements for project implementation and completion, the Ministry of Construction will request the Provincial Party Committee Secretary and People’s Committee Chairman of Dak Lak Province to consider holding accountable the collectives and individuals involved, who are under the management of the province.

If issues and obstacles regarding land clearance persist beyond May 30, the Ministry of Construction will consider demarcating the project and transferring it to the local authorities for management and subsequent completion once the local budget allocation becomes available.

As reported by Tiền Phong, the investment project on the Ho Chi Minh Road, bypassing Buôn Ma Thuột City to the east, is a key project for Dak Lak Province. The 39.606-kilometer route passes through Cư M’gar, Cư Kuin, and Krông Pắc districts and Buôn Ma Thuột City.

The project, which commenced in 2021, was expected to be completed and operational by 2023. However, it has faced delays, cost overruns, and a necessity to adjust the total investment amount, resulting in an extended timeline until 2025.

Initially, the total investment for the project was estimated at over VND 1,500 billion. Subsequently, compensation costs increased by more than VND 330 billion, leading to a revised total investment amount of VND 1,841.095 billion from the central government budget. The extended timeline now projects completion by 2025.
