After securing the top spot in sales rankings and capturing the most market share in the domestic market, VinFast is aggressively pushing forward with its plans to expand into international markets. In addition to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, VinFast is also developing markets in other regions of Asia.
One of the key markets in VinFast’s global expansion strategy is India, where the company has established a car factory with the aim of exporting to neighboring countries. Most recently, a few of the company’s test vehicles were spotted in the country.

Specifically, a local automotive news outlet encountered a fleet of VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 vehicles undergoing testing on a closed course, seemingly in preparation for their official launch.
According to the outlet, there were two VinFast VF 6 and two VF 7 vehicles present in separate test areas. While the VF 6 models were finished in Brahminy White and Jet Black, the VF 7s sported a Deep Ocean paint job alongside the Jet Black option.

The outlet also noted that information about the VF 6 and VF 7 is now available on the company’s Indian website. It was observed that the VF 6 models featured smaller silver-painted alloy wheels, suggesting they are lower trim variants, while the VF 7 boasted larger black alloy wheels.
However, the Deep Ocean color option for the VF 7, seen in the test vehicles, was notably absent from the listed color choices on the website.

Based on these observations, the outlet speculated that the Deep Ocean-colored vehicle may have been brought to India solely for testing purposes and might not be offered for sale in the market. Of course, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of VinFast adding this color option in the future.
In reality, VinFast officially introduced the VF 6 and VF 7 to the Indian market at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 back in January. In fact, the VinFast VF 7 was awarded the title of “Most Anticipated New Car in India” by ABP Live News.

In Vietnam, the top-of-the-line VinFast VF 6 is equipped with an electric motor that delivers up to 201 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque, paired with 19-inch wheels, enabling a maximum range of 460 km on a single charge. The VinFast VF 6 competes in the B-segment SUV category, and in India, it will go up against the likes of the Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv EV, both from domestic automakers.
Similarly, the range-topping VinFast VF 7 in Vietnam features an electric motor with identical output to the VF 6 but boasts a larger battery, resulting in a maximum range of nearly 500 km per charge. Should it be launched in India, the VinFast VF 7 will rival the BYD Atto 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

In India, VinFast has embarked on constructing a massive 160-hectare car manufacturing facility, capable of producing up to 150,000 vehicles annually. The construction of this factory commenced in late February 2024 and is strategically located in the state of Tamil Nadu, regarded as the automotive hub of India.
Indian media outlets reported in late March that the VinFast factory was approximately 90% complete and expected to be operational within the next two to three months. Sources also indicated that VinFast would be shipping around 2,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) of cargo to the facility to facilitate its commencement of operations.
The VinFast India factory will initially focus on producing vehicles for the domestic market before branching out into exports to neighboring countries.
