On May 15, the Economic Police in coordination with Team 17 of the Market Management Team and the Sai Son Commune Police (Quoc Oai District) inspected the production facility of Joint Stock Company of Herbal Medicine Moc Can in Nam Trai Village. This facility was located in a discreet area, hidden in an alley with low traffic, and painted with camouflage to evade authorities.

Authorities discovered over 11,000 boxes of various types of functional foods such as tea, milk, and pills with indications of exaggerated health claims, violating regulations on labeling, advertising, and product safety.

Products with exaggerated health claims

It was determined that Joint Stock Company of Herbal Medicine Moc Can had violated several regulations, including failing to notify authorities in writing about changes to their products, inadequate labeling, and misleading claims about the nature and truth of the goods – specifically, describing the products’ benefits in a way that misled consumers about their therapeutic and medicinal effects.

Notably, the company’s products were advertised and sold on social media platforms (websites, TikTok, Shopee, etc.) with misleading information, causing consumers to mistake the supplements for medicine. This could lead to serious health consequences and distort a healthy business environment. The authorities will continue to investigate and strictly handle the violations of Joint Stock Company of Herbal Medicine Moc Can according to the law.

Hanoi Police advises residents to be vigilant and thoroughly research functional foods or products with exaggerated claims to avoid financial loss and health risks.
