On May 21st, the exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong (VND) against the US Dollar at commercial banks continued to rise, while the Chinese Yuan (CNY) rate remained almost unchanged.
The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate on May 21st at 24,962 VND per USD, down 6 VND from the previous day.
With a trading band of +/- 5% around the reference rate, the ceiling and floor rates applied by banks are 26,210 VND and 23,713 VND per USD, respectively.
The exchange rates listed at the State Bank of Vietnam were 23,770-26,166 VND/USD (buying-selling).
Meanwhile, at commercial banks, as of 8:30 am on May 21st, both Vietcombank and BIDV listed the USD exchange rate at 25,780-26,140 VND/USD (buying-selling), an increase of 20 VND in both buying and selling rates compared to the previous day.
In contrast, the Chinese Yuan rates at Vietcombank and BIDV remained largely unchanged from May 21st.
Vietcombank listed the CNY exchange rate at 3,540-3,653 VND/CNY (buying-selling), while BIDV offered rates of 3,558-3,654 VND/CNY (buying-selling). Both banks saw a slight increase of 1 VND in the buying rate and no change in the selling rate compared to the previous day./.

As of 8:30 a.m. on May 23, Vietcombank maintained its USD exchange rate at 23,790-26,150 VND/USD (buy-sell), unchanged from the previous day’s opening rate.
