On May 25, Lu Quang Ngoi, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Vinh Long province, announced that three provinces, including Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, and Ben Tre, have proposed to retain their respective lottery companies post-merger. The decision is now pending review by the Steering Committee for the Arrangement of Administrative Units at the provincial level.

According to the financial report of Vinh Long Lottery One-Member Limited Liability Company (referred to as Vinh Long Lottery Company), in 2024, the company’s revenue exceeded VND 5,894.8 billion, with a profit after tax of over VND 683.1 billion.

In the past year, the business operations of Tra Vinh Lottery Company continued to remain stable and maintained its growth trajectory. Ticket sales revenue reached nearly VND 6,620 billion, with a sales ratio of 99.999%. Pre-tax profit stood at VND 812 billion, surpassing the plan set by the Provincial People’s Committee by 118.5%. The company contributed over VND 2,347 billion to the state budget, exceeding the target by 134.7%.

Ben Tre Lottery Company, in 2024, recorded traditional lottery ticket sales of VND 6,580 billion, with estimated sales of VND 6,579 billion. The estimated payout for prizes was VND 3,179 billion.

For the self-selected lottery, sales were estimated at VND 52 billion, while the payout for prizes was estimated at VND 35 billion.

In 2024, Ben Tre Lottery Company contributed an estimated VND 2,439 billion to the state budget. In addition to its business activities, the company actively engaged in social welfare programs, contributing approximately VND 32 billion to the community.

The Steering Committee for the Construction of the Merged Entity of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces has also proposed retaining the two local lottery companies post-merger.

In 2024, Ca Mau Lottery Company recorded ticket sales of over VND 6,570 billion, with pre-tax revenue from ticket sales reaching VND 5,221 billion. The company contributed VND 2,204 billion in taxes and other obligations to the state budget and allocated over VND 9 billion for social welfare programs.

Similarly, Bac Lieu Lottery Company’s total revenue in 2024 exceeded VND 5,980 billion. According to the company’s business and investment plan for 2025, Bac Lieu Lottery Company aims to achieve a revenue of VND 6,771 billion, with a pre-tax profit target of VND 894 billion and a state budget contribution of VND 2,270 billion.

Sharing their perspective with reporters, many street lottery ticket sellers in Ca Mau and Bac Lieu expressed their relief that the lottery companies will be retained. This decision not only ensures their livelihood but also contributes to the development of their hometowns.
