The Food Safety Authority of Vietnam (under the Ministry of Health) has recently issued a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Authority and the Hanoi Food Hygiene and Safety Control Department, requesting an inspection and verification of the production and distribution of two products advertised by “Ngân Collagen” as “Apple Candy for Belly Fat Reduction” and “N-collagen Chanh plus.”

The two products advertised by Ngân Collagen that are subject to inspection

According to a scan of the public service software, these two products have not been registered with the Authority, as required by law. The “Apple Candy for Belly Fat Reduction” is distributed exclusively by N-Collagen Import-Export Company Limited in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. The company responsible for its quality is Hoang Chau Pharm Company Limited, and it is manufactured by Vesco Pharmaceutical Company Limited in Dan Phuong industrial park, Hanoi. On the other hand, “N-collagen Chanh plus” is distributed by N-Collagen Import-Export Company Limited in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. The company responsible for its quality is Bequen Company Limited, and it is also manufactured by Visco Pharmaceutical Company Limited in the Dan Phuong area.

Although both products are labeled as dietary supplements, they have not completed the necessary declaration procedures and have not obtained confirmation for their advertised content, as required by law.

The Food Safety Authority has emphasized that the management of dietary supplement products has been decentralized to the local level according to Decree 15-2018. Therefore, they have requested Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to urgently inspect the production and distribution processes, as well as conduct sample testing to determine the presence of any prohibited substances. This will ensure that any violations are handled in accordance with regulations.

The “Apple Candy for Belly Fat Reduction” product advertised on an e-commerce platform

The Food Safety Authority previously issued a warning in March 2022, advising consumers against purchasing and consuming the N-Collagen weight loss tea due to potential health and economic risks associated with false advertising. In May 2022, the Authority also worked with the N-Collagen Import-Export Company regarding violations related to the advertising of N-Collagen weight loss tea on several websites. The company denied owning any official websites and direct involvement in online advertising for this product. However, they committed to coordinating and taking necessary actions to address the violations.

On social media platforms, e-commerce sites, and TikTok, an account named Trần Thị Bích Ngân (Ngân Collagen) frequently posts videos advertising weight loss products, claiming that they are licensed by authorities. These products are promoted as having detox and whole-body fat reduction effects.

Previously, authorities requested an inspection of weight loss products advertised by “Ngân 98”

On May 25, the Food Safety Authority also sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Authority and the Hanoi Food Hygiene and Safety Control Department, requesting an urgent inspection and sample testing of several weight loss products advertised by DJ Ngân 98, including X1000, Super Detox X3, and X7 Plus, which have sparked public concern.
