The Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) affirmed on May 25 that the recent incidents at Terminal 3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport were minor and promptly addressed.
Regarding the water leakage at Terminal 3, ACV explained that it was caused by a loose gasket in a drainage pipe connection. The leakage occurred when heavy rainfall on May 24 caused water to overflow from the roof gutters, spilling onto the terminal floor.
ACV stated that this incident happened during the final stages of construction, as the terminal had already begun operations. The contractors promptly addressed the issue, ensuring that airport operations were not affected.
The contractors are currently in the process of completing the stone flooring, which includes sealing expansion joints with silicone, grinding, and polishing. This work is expected to be completed by the end of June 2025.

According to ACV, the opening of Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport not only served the increased travel demand during the recent national holiday but also significantly reduced the burden on Terminal 1, which has been operating beyond its capacity for years.
In the month since its opening, Terminal 3 has served nearly 550,000 passengers and 2,521 flights, ensuring safe operations. Terminal 3 is a key project with a total investment of over VND 11 trillion (approximately USD 470 million), developed by ACV.
Once fully operational, Terminal 3 is expected to serve 20 million domestic passengers annually, alleviating the congestion at Terminal 1 and increasing Tan Son Nhat Airport’s total capacity to 50 million passengers per year.
Currently, all Vietnam Airlines domestic flights have been transferred to Terminal 3.
