The Ministry of Construction has directed the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to promptly inspect and thoroughly rectify the deficiencies of the T3 Terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, with particular attention to addressing the issue of rainwater leaking from the glass roof into the check-in and waiting areas. They are also required to develop a plan to ensure safe operations during the rainy season.
Just over a month after its inauguration, the T3 Terminal has been plagued by leaks during heavy rainfall. Passenger-recorded footage from May 24 shows water streaming from the glass roof into the baggage claim area, prompting staff to use absorbent materials to minimize disruption.
On May 7, similar leaks were observed in the T3 passenger terminal.

The Ministry of Construction emphasized the need for contractors to conduct a comprehensive review of the structure, promptly identifying and addressing any potential issues to prevent reoccurrences and ensure the functionality and safe operation of the terminal.
They also urged the swift completion of outstanding tasks, especially the stone cladding in the terminal area, without compromising the operational capabilities and safety of the terminal.
Minister Tran Hong Minh instructed the contractors to increase manpower and equipment to address these issues and fulfill their warranty obligations. The contractors are held accountable to the investor and legal consequences if any incidents occur due to negligence affecting the quality and safety of the project.
The T3 Terminal, with a total investment of nearly VND 11,000 billion, is a key project inaugurated to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the Reunification of the Country. ACV, as the investor, and the contractors made remarkable efforts to complete the construction two months ahead of schedule, despite challenges posed by space constraints.
“While the project has achieved commendable results, some deficiencies have surfaced during its operation. Although these issues have not impacted the safety and functionality of the terminal, they have affected its aesthetics, passenger experience, and public perception,” stated the dispatch from the Ministry of Construction.

Previously, the Vietnam Aviation Authority instructed ACV and Tan Son Nhat International Airport to thoroughly review and address all issues pertaining to the operation of the T3 passenger terminal. They were also tasked with ensuring the convenience and safety of passengers.
Additionally, the Southern Airport Authority was assigned to strengthen the supervision of service quality in the T3 terminal and promptly report any difficulties or obstacles for timely resolution.
The T3 Terminal, with its construction commencing in late 2022 and completion in April 2023, stands as a testament to the hard work and dedication of all involved.

The Leaking Ceiling and Gaping Floor of Tan Son Nhat Airport’s Terminal 3: Who is the Contractor?
The T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport has been facing a unique challenge. After resolving an incident of water leakage from the roof, new gaps have emerged on the terminal floor, creating an eyesore and a potential hazard for passengers. These crevices, akin to traps, mar the aesthetics and pose a risk to the safety of travelers awaiting their flights. It is imperative that these issues are addressed promptly to ensure a seamless and safe experience for all passengers using the terminal.
