On May 25th, according to the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the district is taking the first steps to demolish the ‘Hammerhead’ building located at 1-3-5 Dinh Tien Hoang Street.

As shared by the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District, with permission from Hanoi city, they have been studying a plan to renovate and embellish the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square. This area serves as a connection between two heritage urban zones: Hoan Kiem Lake – Den Ngoc Son in the South (Special National Relic) and the Old Quarter in the North (National Relic).

Following the assignment from the city to prepare for investment, the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District promptly initiated the necessary procedures and issued a notice for land retrieval at the location of 1-3-5 Dinh Tien Hoang.

At present, the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District is collaborating with the Hanoi Transport Corporation and relevant units to implement the project. On May 25, 2025, they commenced safety measures, dismantling and relocating equipment, and began the process of dismantling the structure. This work is expected to be completed by June 2025.

According to Tien Phong Newspaper’s reporters, workers were present on the morning of May 25th, welding iron piles in preparation for enclosing the Hammerhead building with metal sheets.
