On May 26th, the Hanoi Police’s Traffic Police Division commenced the deployment of over 20 mobile recording devices at various locations to detect traffic violations.

At each location, a traffic police officer operates a camera (with a tripod) to openly record and enforce traffic violations for motorbikes.

When a violation is observed, the recording officer will notify the task force to stop the vehicle for further handling.

If the vehicle cannot be stopped immediately, the recorded violation will be handed over to the processing team for data retrieval and subsequent notification of the fine to the vehicle owner.

The Traffic Police Division added that while the penalty for motorbikes and motorcycles has been in place for a long time, the new measure involves traffic officers directly operating recording devices at intersections or areas with frequent violations.

From April 15th until now, the authorities have handled over 21,000 violations, temporarily confiscated approximately 5,000 vehicles, and revoked more than 900 driving licenses.

Among these cases, approximately 200 drivers were detected through the surveillance camera system and issued tickets, with 500 related vehicle owners receiving notifications.

This plan will be implemented until October 14th, focusing on violations that directly cause traffic congestion and accidents, such as running red lights, driving in the wrong lane or on the sidewalk, not wearing a helmet, overloading, using a phone while driving, and issues related to license plates.

Additionally, units in the area are employing other measures to monitor and handle traffic violations, including secret recordings and accepting violation reports through social media channels.
