According to the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province has tightened control over the entire durian production chain since 2023 to ensure output quality, especially as China, the main market, has continuously strengthened inspections for pesticide residues and the origin of agricultural products.

Lam Dong province has over 25,600 hectares of durian farms, with an annual output of about 175,000 tons.

To assert the quality of Lam Dong durians, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development collected nearly 760 samples for analysis of pesticide and heavy metal residues, with no samples testing positive for mercury, cadmium, or lead.

“The people and businesses of Lam Dong are producing durians with passion and responsibility for the international market,” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Vice Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to statistics from the department, the province has over 25,600 hectares of durian farms, with an annual output of about 175,000 tons. The three leading localities in terms of area and output are Da Huoai, Di Linh, and Bao Lam, accounting for over 80% of the province’s output. Da Huoai alone has over 10,000 hectares, with a yield of more than 76,000 tons.

Da Huoai district has over 10,000 hectares of durian farms.

Notably, Lam Dong has been granted 114 planting area codes covering nearly 5,500 hectares and 10 packaging facilities for export purposes. So far, none of the planting area codes or packaging facilities have been suspended or revoked due to violations related to mercury.

With stringent inspection results and a tightly controlled production chain, Lam Dong durians are asserting their position and gaining trust in key export markets.
